Beginning in 1927, Paraboot has been a leader in French craftsmanship and continues to provide some of the best quality around. Before he started Paraboot, founder Remy Richard cut his teeth as a shoemaker for a brand in Izeaux, a small town set in the French Alps. In 1926, Richard took a trip to the U.S., where he became enchanted with rubber (then a new material on the market for apparel). He laminated rubber onto his own boots, effectively waterproofing them. Continuing to workshop his production, Richard eventually settled on lugged rubber soles for Paraboot, eleven years before Vitale Abrami founded ‘Vibram’.
Today, Paraboot blends that same rubber lug-sole construction with elegant, smooth-leather uppers. They source leather from the finest tanneries in France, and create timeless, durable silhouettes that have stood the test of time. The Paraboot Michael, Chambord, and Clusaz are favourites of ours, with their Norwegian-welt construction and rugged-but-dressy aesthetic.
