The word “gingham” may come from the Malay word “genggang,” meaning “stripe,” as the fabric was originally made with stripes when it was first produced in Southeast Asia. Others believe the word may have come from “Guingamp,” a town in France where similar cloth may have been produced. Everyday I learn something new. Oh and I love this shirt.
